Nepal school sanitation works restarted

September 29th, 2015

Sanitation works have restarted at the Jalapadevi School after the earthquakes stopped the early work in May and then the wet season commenced making work difficult.

The works continue thanks to support from the WorldSkills Foundation, private donors and the work of two ex-WorldSkills champion plumbers and the local Nepali construction team. The School have also contributed to materials and labour to the works and are happy to see construction now continuing.

The Girl’s building will include 5 toilets (for staff and students) a hand washing area, this will also serve as the temporary toothbrushing instruction area (linking with Teeth & Toilets and dental health) and the wastewater treatment and disposal system. In the future, after the Girl’s area is completed, full renovation and expansion of the Boy’s toilet area and separate tooth brushing instruction area will commence.
