Works were underway at the Jalapadevi School project when the earthquake stopped all works. Manager Bishnu Shrestha was on the ground, checking the set out of foundations and the commencement of brickwork, when the quake struck.

Due to the tragic loss of local people in the nearby village and destruction of many houses, including those of the local workers on the project, works have been stopped.

The partners to the project (Teeth and Toilets, Rotary, WorldSkills Foundation and IAPMO) have all agreed to proceed only when the local school committee and construction team have attended to the urgent shelter and rebuilding works so desperately needed.
