Nepal update: improving living conditions, now and into the future

June 5th, 2015

HH, in conjunction with our Rotary partners and the villages who previously have participated in the Village Health Improvement Program (Sanitation Program), have been working hard for the people who have lost their homes and possessions in the recent earthquakes to ensure they have food, some personal health items and emergency shelter before the June – July monsoon season.

The 100% ‘overall survival’ rate of the toilets, wastewater treatment systems and water tanks built in the 3 villages means the villagers have functioning essential health assets through this tough time. Minor damage to the toilets is being repaired as part of the urgent works.

HH, Rotary and the all the villagers involved thank all the generous donors who have already contributed to these works. Most of the donated funds still remain and will be used carefully in supplementing family budgets to improve the safety of houses when rebuilding commences after the monsoon season.

Attached is a brief report summarising the works commenced, completed and planned to improve the living conditions of the villages in Nepal.

This report was sent to donors earlier this week and is being released publicly now to encourage more support for the longer term goal of the safe rebuilding of houses and communities after the end of the monsoon season. TO HELP THE REBUILDING WORKS CLICK HERE to go to our Rotary partners website to make a tax deductible donation. ALL funds donated go directly to the village works.
