Mothers and Daughters – Trek to raise funds for Nepal

September 12th, 2016

In April this year 8 mothers with their 14 year old daughters committed to a 10-day trek in Nepal to raise funds for the HH Earthquake reconstruction efforts. HH arranged for the group to meet with Bhattedanda village leader Prem Lama during their trip, who ensured the women and girls were well received and able to learn more about the devastation of the earthquakes on the village. Bhattedande is also the first to village we worked with in Nepal constructing septic and biogas toilets for each family.

The trip was preceded by a screening of the film “Sherpa” in Sydney ahead of its release in cinemas and attended by the films director Jennifer Peedom, Sherpa producer Bridgit Ikin and Pem Norgay (daughter to famous Sherpa Tenzing Norgay) and was attended by many current supporters of HH.

Between the Sherpa event and fundraising support for the trek, the group raised funds to the Village Earthquake Reconstruction Project.

HH is grateful and inspired by a wonderful fundraising achievement through a bonding experience between mother and daughter.
