Diepsloot Sanitation Project – the work continues

April 26th, 2015

The work started in Diepsloot, Johannesburg, by the local WASSUP group, supported by Sticky Situations, around 7 years ago continues with a second injection of plumbing expertise from the WorldSkills Foundation and IAPMO support.

The local team welcomed Jed Scheuermann (from Canada/USA and IAPMO) and Alex Dekoeyer (from Australia and WorldSkills) to tackle more water supply and waste water / toilet problems.

This is not heroic or grand work. The work is tedious, dirty and … essential. Improving and maintaining water supplies and human waste and wastewater removal systems is all that stands between 300,000 people and cholera and typhoid outbreaks.

Thanks to all those involved and check in with this site for more results of the work in a week’s time.
