World Habitat Award finally gets to Nepal
During the final judging for the World Habitat Awards in mid 2011 Bishnu Shrestha, of the Community Health and Development Society (Nepal), made a presentation to the judging panel in Sydney via a skype call from Nepal. HH thinks the contribution of the Nepal project was important to the WHA win and knows the work in Nepal has improved the lives of many villagers in Nepal.
As a valued partner of Healthabitat, CHDS’s contribution to the sanitation project in Nepal since 2007 has been very important.
Along with the Sree Tamang Village Development Committee (STVDC), representing the village for the first sanitation project of Bhattedande they worked hard to complete the whole village by 2011 and are now implementing 2 more projects in nearby villages.
It was therefore a great pleasure to present the combined team from CHDS Nepal (Jaya Mangal and Bishnu Shrestha) / STVDC (Prem Lama chair of the committee) as well as Dr Sandra Meihubers representing Rotary (also important supporters of the sanitation program in Nepal) a framed memento of the World Habitat Award in the Bhattedande village.
A possible WHA study tour to the Nepal sanitation program is being planned for later in 2012. If you are interested contact HH.
